arena and an update

Posted by Vixenytli & Chuck on April 14, 2008

We got bored. and we got busy. We found this really cool place with all these little caged critters up in the sky in netherstorm and, well, you all know how chuck loves pets. we got distracted for a while. I was busy trying to get better after being super sick, and let me tell you- scorpids do not have healing hands. not a good combo. But we have some time off work for our birthday (yay! tomorrow is our birthday!) and we’re planning on playing and cleaning, though which we’ll do more of is still in debate.

There are SOO many things we’ve been working on. The most exciting of the moment is the faction gear set. We saw our RAP drop, but our crit is up over 15% now and raid buffed our health is 9633 which is the highest we’ve ever seen it. Now- this is our Arena set. Not really what we want to be wearing for PVE, but two of the pieces, the Stalker’s Chain Gauntlets are a HUGE upgrade from the hands that we had before. Our weakest pieces at this point are all on the right side of the character screen, but in reality, we’re not longer totally displeased with what we’re wearing. and man does that set look sexy!! everything matches and is all black and red and bad-ass looking. Sad that we’ll have to take our much loved Pink Mageweave Shirt to the orphanage, but it just doesn’t go. We need a black one.

We are having a litte trouble deciding between some gear pieces, but the solution seems to be different gear for different situations. we’ve narrowed it down to two combinations- a PVE, with Kara/heroics in mind, and a PVP, with Arena in

mind. below are the screen shots.

So this is the PVP set. AS you can see the RAP went down… quite a bit. this is NOT raid buffed. But the stam went up a lot, and though it’s not on the shot, Vix also has 124 res now when before she had none. It’s still not a lot but it’s a huge difference. you can see that her hit is way down, but remember, this set is for arena. we’re all the same lvl, She doesn’t need hit. This is also with all low quality gems, almost NO enchants (we put heavy knothide armor kits on everything) and No meta gem for the head piece yet. This set still has a lot of room to grow even before we start switching out pieces. Also notice the top ring- that little beauty gives us 48 stam. It’s awesome. we loves it.

Now this is the PVE set. the neck, shoulders, chest and main hand all come from Kara. That’s not to say there aren’t better upgrades that are more hunter specific in kara, but we went with a group that didn’t need much and they were super generous. the cloak is the first thing we’ve spent badge gear on and we’re quite happy with it. The bracers are the first piece of our Ebon Netherscale set and the belt is coming soon. again, this set also has crappy crappy gems, armor kits instead of enchants, and a lot of room to grow. Over all though, we’re starting to see some really good improvements and we’re quite happy.

We actually USED our new PVP set last night playing arena. Long story short- we rock. no the team did not do so great and our rating is still below 1200 /cringe but it took us longer to die, it took chuck longer to die, and we murdered people and chuck chewed on their bones. it was beautiful. the team still has a lot to work on. Our job is easy. Mal says “shammy and Lock” I say- which one? he says “pets on the shammy to interrupt, burn down the lock” and I do. HIS job is complicated. Keep the curse of tongues combined with that exploding curse thingy on the lock so he cast slower, do a short fear and then while he’s feared a long fear. use some dots. distract the pet. recurse the shammy to keep him from healing the lock that’s almost dead. ….. it’s no wonder he doens’t it quite have it down yet. It’s a lot harder to be a disrupter than a DPSer. I through in a little disruption. having Chuck smacking the healer around makes it harder for them to heal. and a well placed mana-stealing shot doesn’t go wrong, but mostly chuck and I just kill stuff as fast as we can. goes something like this-

/hunter’s mark /pet attack /mend pet /freeze trap (for the lock pet) /beastial wrath /concussive shot /aimed shot + kill command /arcance shot /aimed combo /concussive shot /runaround a bit to make the lock pet get trapped /mana tap /aimed combo /rapid shots /drop second freeze trap and stand in it /trinket out of fear /dps dps dps /switch targets /dps dps dps dps

my job is easy.

though- last night we had one situation that I just have to say- and chuck agrees- I was genious.

out trough the gates, it’s the nagrand arena. it’s a shammy and hunter. Ignore the hunter, pets on the shammy and blow him up. Great, while he’s perma-feared I can just stand her and shoot him, I’ll freeze the hunter pet and…..wait, this hunter is just standing there shooting ME! and he’s MM, that hurts! what’d I do? I ran over to him and stood right next to him and kept DPSing the shammy. everytime he tried to get to distance to shoot me I followed him and kept shooting his buddy. It was GENIUS! I’ve never heard of anyone doing that. Now granted if he knew what he was doing he would have /wingclipped /concussive shot /slow trap gotten to distance and started over, but he wasn’t that smart and I could tell. It was fun.
